Postdoc – Ultrafast spectroscopy of nanomaterials

Application deadline: Feb 01 (Mon), 2010

Address: 800 W Campbell Rd Richardson, TX, 75080, USA
Job description: Opportunity for postdoctoral research associate is available at a recently established Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy Laboratory at the Department of Physics at the University of Texas at Dallas headed by Prof. Anton Malko. The initial contract is for one year, renewable for the second year based on performance and funding availability. Salary is negotiable, competitive nationally, and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Applicants residing outside the US will not be considered due to the time requirements. The position is available immediately.

The group employs ultrafast amplified laser systems, low-temp equipment and optical microscopy to study charge and energy transfer in novel solar cell devices based on colloidal nanocrystals (NCs)/conducting polymers and inorganic quantum wells (GaAs and Si), multiexciton formation in NCs, Forster energy transfer in biological systems.

Requirements include PhD in physics or physical chemistry and proficiency in spoken and written English. Previous hands-on experience in modern ultrafast optical techniques such as femtosecond pump-probe/photoluminescence up-conversion and/or single molecule fluorescence spectroscopy and sm-FRET, cryogenics and instrumentation programming (Labview) is a must while experience with colloidal NCs, conducting polymers or related optically active materials is highly desirable.

Candidates are invited to send a CV (as a pdf or rtf attachment only) including a brief description of research experience, statement of research interests and two letters of recommendations by e-mail to Prof. Anton Malko,
